Every week I’ll have something new to learn or a straightforward project to make.

(There will still be typical articles and guides blended in too.) All the discussion and jobs calls for applying sewing machines. There would have been a several hand sewing articles, but I will be concentrating mostly on sewing with a machine. You’ll know it’s part of the Sewing 101 Line since you’ll see this cool logo. (above)

Today I’ll start off the line referring to something really fundamental:

Learning your sewing machine.
Every sewing unit is different, however the same.

Consider it such as a car. You will get an applied one, an antique one, your simple model, the top of the point luxury model or anything in between – great for the family. They all enable you to get from A to B (I mean sew), but they also have various characteristics, prime rates, and sense various as you sew with them. And sure, being a car, particular machines are designed a lot better than others.

You don’t desire a expensive unit to start. Something simple may work. Learn what you need and you can always update later.

The 2 (working) sewing devices I’ve within my house are very basic. A Performer Assurance 7470 and a Janome Hello Cat equipment (which belongs to my six year old). Both get the task performed, but have different feels. I really do all of my sewing on the Singer — even the quilting.

My performer is not really a the the surface of the range unit, but it’s actually nice. It works great and has most of the functions I need.
